COVID-19 Vaccinations at Laurel Care Home

We are extremely happy to report that after living under the threat of this virus since March, many of our residents and staff have now started their vaccination process. A proportion of our staff had their first injection of the Pfizer vaccination on 18th December 2020 and have recently had their second dosage on Friday 8th January 2021.

The residents and a further eight members of staff received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on January 1st and have the second injection due to be completed on January 22nd. Our remaining staff members will be receiving the Oxford University vaccine as soon as it becomes available.

We at Laurel Care Home would like to thank the support, strength and resolve shown by our residents and their families in what has been this most difficult period in the history of the home. Being unable to see your loved ones at a time like this is a real hardship to bare for us all. The sense of community and support we have at Laurel Care Home is something for us all to be proud of.

The senior management team would also like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing staff that have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic to ensure our residents have a safe, happy and healthy environment to weather out this storm.  We are especially proud of their commitment to making sure there were no new cases in the home after the initial outbreak of this virus, thanks to their efforts we have remained Covid free since July 2020.  We have everything crossed that we can remain this way until the vaccines become effective. We are nearly there!

We will continue to test the staff weekly and the residents monthly until further notice. And of course, we will keep you all updated as soon as more information is available to us and hopefully we can invite you all back in our home soon.
